| Okay, so I know that it's a game and that the creators had their artistic licenses, and I like most of these Pokemon, they just don't make sense to me. Dugtrio: Are the three supposed to be Siamese triplets or something? If they aren't and one wanders off or gets taken away, does it devolve? How does the original Diglett "grow" two more Digletts to become it's new appendages? Magneton: Similar to my Dugtrio query, what happens if you force one of the Magnemites off? I get where they all come from, but can't you separate them somehow? Shelgon: What exactly is it? Magnezone: How did the three Magnemites fuse their metals and become one giant magnetic flying saucer? What happened to the other Magnemites? Why does it only have three magnets if each Magnemite had two on their own? And lastly all of the new fighting dogs or whatever they're supposed to be. I don't understand why they're fighting types if they don't punch or kick at all.
Again, I'm not complaining, I'm just stating things that I always kind of thought about but knew answers would never come. | |

| Long post below. :U - Pokescience rant:
Dugtrio: Not sure
Magneton: Well, I seem to recall that its fainting animation in the GameCube games had it separate... don't quote me on that though. My guess is that it isn't anything life-threatening if they get separated, that they can somehow stick back together or something
Shelgon: A dragon going through metamorphosis. The shell is like a cocoon, for it to grow its wings.
Magnezone: I'm not too sure how to explain this... I think the fact is, each Pokemon in an evolutionary line, although related, are still completely different beings from each other. When one evolves into the other, it's just that--an evolutionary process. I suppose this could be backed up by the fact that some Pokemon don't even like others in their evolutionary line (like Meowth in the anime).
Basically, the Pokemon's basic personality and abilities remain intact, but its entire body physically changes.
As for the fighting dogs: You mean Cobalion-and-friends? Well, supposedly they're modeled after the three musketeers... Perhaps they're "Fighting" in the sense that they "fight for justice". However, I don't think any of the types are a clear-cut representation of the elements they're based on.
I think of typing as a sort of... mystical force. No matter how many different ways a Pokemon performs a specific attack, it will always be the assigned type. Likewise, a specific attack does not always have to be performed in a specific way.
In example, the move may be called "___ Claw" but in reality it can be performed with any body part that is sharp, not just claws. Same goes for types!
/end rant
